Topper Care & Maintenance
Taking home your Love Hair Topper
Your new Love Hair Topper will be silky, glossy and smelling beautiful from the moment you take it home. All our pieces are individually washed, styled and prepared ready for you to wear when leaving our studio showroom and ready to wear out of the box upon delivery.

Remember, your hair topper is made with 100% human hair, so it needs to be cared for like you would your own hair.
Washing your Topper
The frequency of washing your hair toppers depends on how often you wear it. Even if you wear it everyday, your topper should only require a monthly wash to ensure its longevity. If you are local, then you are more than welcome to arrange a visit to our studio for a complimentary wash.

If washing your hair topper yourself, follow these simple steps:
-
Prepare your topper by closing all the clips. Using your topper brush, remove any tangles or knots, by brushing gently, starting from the ends then moving upwards.
-
Either fill a sink or a large plastic bowl/tub with tepid water, and put in one to two squeezes of shampoo. Your shampoo should be salon-quality, sulphate and paragon free shampoo.
-
Hold the topper with your thumb placed on the part line and the rest of your hand inside the base. Dunk your topper in the shampoo water and with the other hand gently wash the lengths. You may want to spend a couple minutes to ensure any hairspray build up is washed out thoroughly.
-
Lift the topper out of the soapy water and gently squeeze out the water. Tip out the soapy water and replace with clean water and rinse your topper using the same method holding the topper from the base. Use your other hand to gently rinse without getting the lengths tangled. Never scrub or bunch up the lengths when washing or rinsing.
-
Now its time to apply conditioner to your topper. As like the shampoo, a salon quality conditioner is recommended.
-
Apply the conditioner from the ends then work your way up to the roots. You can leave your conditioner on for 5-10 minutes for a good conditioning treatment. Blonde pieces need extra care, so you can also opt for a hair treatment mask.
-
It is normal for some hair to fall out during the washing process. So don't be concerned. You can now rinse out the conditioner until the water runs clear. Gently squeeze out the water and blot dry your topper with a towel. Do not comb your topper while it is wet.
-
Let your topper air dry overnight on a towel. For best results, let it dry on a wig stand.
-
Once dry, you may want to wear your topper as is, with no styling for a completely natural look. If you want to style your topper, then you must apply a salon-grade heat protectant before applying any heat tools.
-
For a straight look, use a flattening iron. For beachy waves use a curling wand. To prevent damage, it is crucial to avoid excessively high temperatures.

Maintaining your Topper
If you are a daily hair topper user, at the end of the day, its best to have a good routine to ensure your topper always looks good and lasts longer.
-
Take off your topper and close all clips
-
Give your topper a gentle brush with your Love Hair topper brush, starting at the ends and making your way upwards. Always be gentle and avoid pulling or tugging to prevent excessive shedding
-
Place your topper on a hair topper stand/mannequin head if you have one, or lie flat on a clean surface. Avoid direct sunlight.
-
Avoid sleeping with your hair topper as it can cause tangling, knotting and shorten the lifespan of your topper.
-
If travelling with your topper, use the Love Hair satin bag for storing the topper. Then when you arrive at your destination, lay it flat when not wearing it.
